The 7th week in Youthbuild School, I started to work on the Cisco project, in this project, I need to solve the WiFi issue that lead to the slowness access speed. The other one is hardware project, we received several used computer donated by our sponsor and companies.
Things I need to do is check the computer see if they work, and wipe all data on the hard disk, reinstall the windows 7 system. If it's not work, disassemble it and check the components and see if they are work or not. Some of their components were bad or missed, mostly are CD-ROM and hard disk, if there is a hard disk issue, I need to check if there is a spare one, if not, it will be move to trash room. If the issue is on CD-ROM, just take a good one from the other and replace it, so I can load the cd-disk to reinstall the system. I also need to classify all, for those computer use a cpu premium 4 or lower and 2 GB RAM or lower, it would be tagged for student use, for the iCore cpu and 4 GB RAM, it would be tag for staff use. I put my best efforts to build as much as I can, and I successfully completed the task.
There are some clients complained the connection issue of WiFi and slowness of loading when they access the internet. I did a WiFi speed test and record on five different position in the building, the result I got from the test, it's around 20-30 MB/s which is good, the upload/download speed is fine, but it takes a while to connect to the server, my supervisor suggest me to call Cisco to lookup the solution. So I made a call to Cisco and explain my situation, the agent from Cisco told me to check the switch configuration, verify AP if the AP is running in good health, and check for EMI devices to see if they are nearby. It doesn't seems helpful after I tried those method, finally, Cisco recommend a technician to come to our school and assist us to solve the problem next week.
